Fast, clear, and capable of doing real damage quickly.
Where friction shows up
Two people who both need control will find something to contest. It is rarely about the substance. It is about who decides. And because you are both task-focused and low on the responsiveness axis, the relationship damage accumulates without either of you noticing until it is structural.
What to do differently
- Divide decision rights up front and in writing. Not tasks, decisions. This solves ninety percent of it.
- Argue the substance, name the disagreement, then commit. You are both built to move on once the call is made.
- Watch the impact on everyone else. Two Drivers going at it will silence every Analytical and Amiable in the room, and you will lose information you needed.
- Concede visibly at least sometimes. It buys more than it costs.
What not to do
Do not litigate the same decision twice. Do not let a turf question masquerade as a strategy debate.
One line to remember
Split the decision rights before you need them.
